What Are Business Rates?
Business rates are one of the largest overheads any organisation will have to pay.
On the 1 April 2017, a Revaluation saw many Rateable Values rise significantly, increasing property overheads for many businesses across the country. Businesses where something has occurred to affect the rateable value (since the new values were calculated 2015), may be paying more in business rates due to an incorrect calculation.
Affected business premises include those that have been affected by new developments, such as newly-built roads, or those that have experienced a significant change in the way their premises are used. The valuation could still be incorrect for those businesses that received a reduction in business rates. The rateable value should be challenged to ensure that it is both accurate and fair.
